Surfacing

There are many types of surfacing you can use, all should conform to the BS EN 1177 standard, please see the list below for a brief guide…

Wetpour

This is a resin bound rubber crumb, it requires a sub-base and edging around the perimeter. (wetpour will have differing depths (40mm, 50mm etc depending on the piece of equipment it is placed under)

Grass Matting

A grass matt with mesh underlay, this can be installed directly onto well established grass.

Loosefill

Bark or Woodchip loose surfacing, this also has varying depth requirements depending on equipment height.

Rubber Mulch

A resin bound rubber shreds this can be laid on top of solid existing hard surfacing or grass.

Sand

Playgrade sand can be used in large areas under equipment or small sand pits with in an area.

Rubber Tiles

Individual rubber tiles laid onto a solid base, edging to be placed around the perimeter.

Grass Synthetic Surface

Grass carpet surfacing, laid onto compacted sand base.

Please note there are specifications for these surfaces and as with play equipment they should be obtained with certification and warrantees to ensure correct installation and longevity.
